A bit limited on the lighting side, but the AF280T does the job quite well. Should have used a reflector card, come to think about it. K24/3.5 on my K20D, AF280T on cord.

ME, with 50/1.7, original hood and ME winder II. The ME is strangely light used, and very smooth operating.

My newest addition:

Came with a K24/3.5 (on camera), a K50/1.4 and a K105/2.8. The fifty isn't much to show off (, but the camera itself is fully working and the other two lenses could be new from the box. Certainly well used, but some 'exercise' helped it loosen up. Even the ASA dial is quite allright.
Is the serial number by any chance 7107878?
(still wondering where my K2 ended up; I sold it in Oslo in 1981)

It would be a fun coincidence, but the serial numbers don't match. I'll keep an eye out, though, there aren't many K-series SLRs on the Norwegian used market, much less K2s.

Hey, I used to have one of those. It's possible I still do, actually, it'll just have been in some relative's attic since, well, erf, about half my life ago, if I didn't give it away before I bailed.

Since it was mentioned, though, I've been wondering if anyone's got a good source for a Bay 1 hood. Maybe nice and old but not collectey-priced, or if anyone's ever tried the plastic ones you can get on Ebay. Plastic may be OK, cause the thing'll probably end up in my pocket a fair bit.

Got one of these, now:

Wow! Nice camera! Family passed along the C version to me...just need some time and some film....

a palindromic pair

My beloved MX and oft-neglected ZX-M. The usability difference between them is in the eye of the photographer: the MX has one of Pentax's biggest and best pentaprism viewfinders, and the ZX-M has a smaller viewfinder made with mirrors.

The MX was just given some fresh lube on the supply reel shaft to free up the transport, because it's been overlapping frames occasionally. I think I'll be replacing the leatherette soon; it came to me with the original cover falling apart, and I got a kit of cameraleather's navy blue composite material -- which turned out not only to not be blue (it's a dark gray-green in most light) but texturally transparent, showing every bump and crease of the underlying surface. Probably I should try something more conventionally pebbled.

I finally took a pic of the ZX-L - these kind of cameras just don't float my boat as subjects, they aren't lookers like some vintage gear

Compare that to a couple of vintage beauties:

You are so right! I was looking at my Kiev 4A (Ukrainian Contax clone, ca. 1961), this morning and was thinking that it has so much more character than even my 70s vintage SLRs. I think I should probably do a portrait of both it and the FED-2 (ca. 1963) today.

After seeing you post up your ZX-L, I finally got the courage to post my ZX-5

Here are the results of this morning's photo shoot. Not Pentax cameras, so the mods can pull them if they wish

(I guess this OK since Pentax never made a film rangefinder camera)

Quick photo of my most recent film camera:

I'll probably end up liquidating some 35mm bodies to make room for it.

Lovely cameras, Steve, there's something about those Russian RF's that's enticing, usually the lines are beautiful and the innards are assembled like tractors

Here's the Fed 3 (note the high tech lever advance) with the panda industar and the Jupiter 12 that will soon be Steve's

The P645 is such a dear - here's a series I took yesterday for my user review entry (using the preset Macro-Takumar 50/4)

No, and from all everyone writes, it is supposed to break down sometime, but It is the only film camera I own on which a DA lens works just like it does on a DSLR--vignetting aside. Still, it is not the first one I reach for.

They are looking in very good condition. Curiously in an "hideous, squarish" sort of way I find the Kiev 4A beautiful.

Now you need to put some good glass on this FED. The Canon 35/2.8 chrome (34mm ring) would look incredible. The only issue is that the RF is set for 50mm only.

Cheers,

Luc

I still have to convince myself to take the MZ-5N out even with the FA Limited on....
