Phil that is pretty cool.

I had a pink slip in the mailbox today.

No, not that kind.

The pink slip says the PO is holding a box from Eric Hendrickson. My new SuperProgram is in there.

Oh dear. I feel a bout of SMC A-LBA coming on.
I think I'll also send my KX to Eric, as the last CLA was done locally and it was almost 5 years ago.

Looking foward to some pictures of your new camera Paul. Yeah maybe an couple A* lenses!!

Phil.

Heh. Having satisfied most of my lifetime of Pentax catalog lust I'm rationalizing my collection and supposedly in a de-acquisitioing phase. But I recently wrote that if I should happen across an A*200 Macro ........

I look forward to a Pic of the KX after it receives some Pentaxs, com Magic.

I went to the pickup window at 11:08 Saturday morning. There are photos on the cards in my Q and K-01, some sportng the A35~105/3.5 - I just didn't do the deed last night (I had the AF280T in the shoe and TX in the chamber, though).

Got my black KM back from Eric and just received my K 35/3.5 from member 17dew, so I figured I needed to do an all black K portrait.

The KX and KM were just CLA'd. The KX has a split prism screen.
The K2 hasn't been CLA'd but works great except for an issue with the aperture coupler and on some lenses the meter doesn't know what aperture is selected.

The newest and the Brother "S"

This is my most recent acquisition, from a member. My first "A" camera. I only have this one A lens - - I think the first lens I ever bought on eBay - though it occurs to me I should try my FA's as MF lenses.

The H1a (left) and SV (right) are the two cameras I actually enjoy simply using and of all the cameras and lenses I have this entire kit cost me the least money - less than $100. The CLA's cost more than the actual hardware. When I take one of these somewhere around people I get some funny looks and an occasional question - and once in a while a conversation. Handheld Sekonic Micro-Leader and L398 meters add to the fun.

My original plan was to use it with my MESuper and KX and have the K and M 50's and a decent zoom.

We all know how well that idea works (well, I need a 28 - the K35 is sublime, the K105 is sublime, the K135 is sublime, Oh, what the hell).. .

Very nice! The H1a was my first "enthusiast" camera in about 1965. The Spotmatic was out then, but they marketed all 3 cameras as a tiered offering. Usually you would see the 55 f2.0 on the H1a, the 55 f1.8 (by rumor the same lens not masked down), and the 50 1.4 on the Spotmatic.
I see yours both have the "orange R" rewind knob, which should indicate that they have the newer style stop-down linkage so they can use the 50 f1.4 lens without damaging it. I have one of each type.

Thank you for the comment Tom. I've never even seen a 55/2 on eBay or anywhere, but I'm satisified to use what I have this way. If anything I enjoy the 55 more (heresy). I purposely waited to find the later versions of both since I have several S-M-C and SMC 50/1.4's. These Super Tak's were a gift (there are 15 or 20 more lenses in that box).

The SV is user-condition. The H1a is more of a shelf queen, though I do carefully run a roll through now and then.

I'm not surprised - that 55 f1.8 largely made the Takumar reputation. The f2.0 was apparently the same lens simply masked to use it as a lower tier offering, much like the S1a actually had the 1/1000 speed - just not shown on the dial. Whenever I use the H1a and 55 f2 I marvel at the results. Depending on what image characteristics you value you can easily prefer the 55 to the 50 f1.4.
Likewise I have both 50 f1.4 K mount and 50 f1.7 (as well as 50 f1.2), and I prefer the f1.7 image to the others.

The 55 f2 is a great lens. It just has a look to it like many of the early Takumars, pre-set and auto.
