BTW, I also have that preset 55mm f2.2 and it is quite a performer.

The lens is just as sharp as an SMC 55mm wide open. It gives a nice cold cast to the photo, maybe because of the all-yellow coatings. This digital shot across the rivers is SMC on the left side and the F2.2 preset on the right using a fixed white balance.

I don't know how the 55mm preset works on my K20D but the 10 blades renders a nice smooth bokeh mounted on the AP using Kodak Gold 100

AP+55mm f2.2 preset taken with the LX using Lomography 100 film desaturated to b&w.

My current 35mm Pentax family. It's still growing. There's a Spotmatic F on the way. I also have an MV, but I'm not showing it because it's for sale. And I also own a 67 with a few lenses, but there was no room for that beast in this photo.

The Spotmatic F arrived today. It came with a batch of lenses that frankly I'd forgotten about. Even has a working battery in it, so I was able to test the meter right away. I haven't checked it for accuracy against a known good meter yet, but it seems to be giving me about the right exposures. It came with a Bushnell 35/2.8, a Vivitar 135/2.8 and a very nice looking Sigma 70-230/4.5 "High Power" zoom with its own case. None of the lenses support the full aperture metering capabilities of the "F" but fortunately I had an extra 55/2 SMC Tak from another recent purchase that was not being used, so it got tapped for pics with the F.

She's a little dusty but she sure is purty, ain't she?

Very nice. I have that same Sigma 135mm lens - it's superb.

Thanks for that. An interesting read, especially regarding the evolution of SMC and it's use within the lenses.

In 1988, I signed up for a photo class at high school. My dad was sort of an enthusiast at the time, so he encouraged it by buying me a Spotmatic with 2 or 3 lenses. I used it for a number of years but didn't take it with me to college and so my little sister started using it. Then she took it to Patagonia and left it on a train or in a taxi on the way back home. I've had a number of cameras since but always had fond memories of the Spotmatic. So I got another one.

This one is a Honeywell where my old one was an Asahi. I think there are slight differences but it's been a while. I have:
Super Takumar 55/1.8
Super Takumar 28/3.5

I'm shooting a variety of film:
Fujia Superia for color shots (some is expired; I troll around on eBay with the goal of spending $1/roll; for some reason so far it's all been Fuji)
Kodak BW400CN and Ilford XP2 Super for C41 B&W (a local camera store will develop for $3/roll, and I have a film scanner)
Kodak T-Max because it's what I used in the 80s
And then I found my old bulk load cassettes that we used in school so I bought a loader that came with film in it; I got about 14 rolls out of that (some are 12 exp so I don't ruin too much with my developing skills)
And once I get my developing routine going I have a 100ft roll of Arista.edu in the freezer, and I will probably try some Orwo at some point also.

Enough of that, here's a picture of the new camera:

Ran the first roll through it today, it felt very familiar. However the viewfinder seemed a bit grainy, which I don't remember from before. Will bear watching.

And FWIW, I post my good shots here on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/119808237@N06/
