That's a very clean looking SPII. Congratulations!

My SP just arrived today, after a 2 months long trip from Canada (seller sent by surface instead of air due to some miscommunication). But its condition isn't as good as what the seller claimed The Super Takumar 50/1.4 lens that came w/ it looks okay though.

Just finished testing out my ME Super SE, this SP might be my next testing camera...
Thanks Frank. I am really looking forward to getting it. I am hoping it gets here today.

I will also buy me a dedicated film scanner while I am at it.
I have a 35mm slide and neg duplicator attached on my K20D with DA* 55mm and the result is by far better than scanners. Even the V500 !

I am searching now an adapter to duplicate 6x6 slides and negs...

You screw it on a 50 to 70mm lens and you can shoot with your K20D or K10D your old slides and negs for less than $100... I use the internal flash to wireless launch my Metz 58 behind the duplicator...

Because of the direct light, there is less visible dust. Scanners, where the light is redirected by a mirror, show more dust...

Dodgy pic below. I purchased them in two parts, then recently added the 40.

SuperProgram
A 50mm 1.7
AF200T

ME w/ winder (winder not pictured)
K 30 2.8
M 40 2.8
M 50 1.7
M 100 2.8

I really love the ME and M40, but all of them are a joy to use.

That is nice. I found the MZ-5n a little bit small for my hands.

Cheers,

I have to admit that I don't use my film cameras much anymore after switching to digital (K10D). However I have always loved the industrial design of Pentax cameras- so much so that I photographed some of the cameras in my collection to make a fine art print that I now have framed. (The original is 20x20")

Thanks Javier.

The hardest part was figuring out which Pentax cameras I wanted to feature. I had room for only six, and I wanted the photo to be visually interesting. There are no K bodies featured, mainly because I don't own any, but also because the Ks were not really breakthrough cameras. If I had to pick a K to feature, I'd pick the K2, but in reality the K2 was just a souped up ESII with a bayonet mount.

The MX, on the other hand, was a 'must.' Although it is a simple manual camera, it is my favorite of all the later Pentax releases. I shot exclusively with an MX for maybe 20 years until I picked up an LX. The MX is the Leica M3 of the Pentax line, an instant and lasting classic. I own three of them.

That's a great category shot, Jim. Nice collection too.

I just got my first M42 mount camera, a Spotmatic SP, but I can't find a matching battery yet Don't know if the meter is still working though. Wonder if I can use any easily available alkaline battery for this thing?

You can buy a Wein Cell (WeinCell Batteries) if you want a true 1.35 volt replacement cell, or you can try a current alkaline cell (1.5 volt) that fits. Spotmatics supposedly have a bridge circuit in their metering system that allows the meter to function with a wider voltage range (unlike some other cameras that need precise voltage or the meter will be inaccurate.)

There's lots of chatter on the 'net about this if you google "spotmatic" and "battery."

I have Wein cells in mine right now, but will try alkaline cells when the Wein cells die.

Good luck.

Thanks Jim. I have several type of 1.55v alkaline batteries, will try them one by one and see how they fit. Probably is, I don't even know if the meter is dead or not If it's dead, no point trying. The camera looks still in pretty good shape, but the battery door is scratched up from previous owner(s). Hope the meter is still working ...

WeinCells are overpriced and unnecessary. I just use 1.4 V 675 zinc-air batteries designed for hearing aids, which are basically the same thing as the WeinCells but in a slightly smaller form factor.

The Spotmatic SP is not supposed to be picky about batteries though. It should work fine with alkalines.
