This is my baby Pentax MX, no need for introductions, you've all seen her type before. This is the first 'proper' 35mm camera I've purchased, after becoming steadily hooked on film with my Mum's Spotmatic. At the moment i'm building up a humble but yummy collection of K and M primes, which currently includes a K24/f2.8, M50/f1.7, M135/f3.5 and M200/f4. At the moment, I pull the MX out whenever I 'feel' like taking photos, rather than 'need' too, which has been rather a lot lately

with M50/f1.7

with Chinon 45mm pancake

Pretties. I'd probably love to get my hands on one of those 67II's, see how they handle. I used to use the original 6x7 a lot, usually with the metered prism. Heavyheavyheavy, (would you believe I shot weddings with the things? ) Not the optimal design for that, but results worth it.

The new addition to my family, a KM!

I got the whole camera kit from the original owner on eBay Germany, for 49.50EUR.

I was after the K35/3.5 lens and took a chance on the KM. Both arrived on Tuesday and are in EX+ condition.

I thought the KM would just be a scaled down version of the KX. It does look like a KX, but some of the features resemble a Spotmatic more. The KM has yet another different way to set the film speed, so the K2, KX & KM are all different!!

I wasn’t sure if I would like the KM but I do and will definitely be keeping it. I will send it off to Eric for a CLA.

Phil.
A sublime lens - IMHO prettiest color rendition of all of them.

I recevied mine, as well, with a camera body attached - a chrome KX that I sent to Eric and ended up selling.

It does seem there's a lot of wonderful old slow Pentax glass. (Pity for me: with a typical old focusing screen, a 3.5 is about where it's lights-out for me focusing very far into dusk or regular indoor light at night. But that's why I have a 1.2 for my old Canons. Rarely shoot it fully wide open, but I can see to focus. The high-tech screen in my Pentax digital is bright enough it doesn't matter (and as a drawback, can't seem to show the difference if you do have a faster lens on there, but I can function fine with a 2.8 or so, so, yay. Film might make it a different matter. )

Thanks for the info Paul. I have heard good things about the K35/3.5 and am looking forward to trying it out.

I owe Jewelltrail some AD-2 SP 90/2.5 shots for the Tammy thread.

I need to redeem myself for my miserable failure with the Sightseeing Screwmoount

Suppose I actually TRY this weekend and put some Ektar 100 in the K2DMD, double with the K10D and shoot both lenses on both?

Here's the 35/3.5 again on my KX. I think this image is also posted farther up this thread.

Oh, I want that lens. Have the K 28/3.5, but would like the 35/3.5 and 24/3.5 also (in that order of priority). Beautifull set. The KX is best in black!

I can't help it, but I don't like grey lenses. But if someone gives me a 43ltd in silver, I'm OK with it (I can always buy some black paint).

then why do people need the battery grip for portrait shooting? although my left hand is on the lens barrel, my hand is still on the bottom of the camera. and if im not focusing, im not touching the lens. you always have your hands on the lens?
Always, gives the best stability...well, the 40mm pancake may be an exception, there is barely room for a finger.

I really like the K24/3.5 as well. It has that special K series look and feel with a big 58mm filter thread.
Even though the K24/2.8 is a better lens technically, I prefer the 3.5 version.

Phil.

PS Nice Spotty!

Indeed!

pspentax MF gear looks very nice also... not that the two LXs look bad either...

Here's a picture of my most resent acquaintance, an ME Super with K28/3.5. The observant will notice it's hiding a Dial Data back.
