Wow! I've read some of your old ads but this time you really hit a sweet point. A black KX! Fun text also. Keep em coming I say!

Cool Ad...

I love my KX, but am now jealous. No it is not the black body I want. Rather it is the viewfinder where the aperture is highlighted in bright blue!

Seriously though...The non-electronic full-information viewfinder is one of the best features of this camera. It always struck me as strange that Pentax did not include the Judas window in more of its camera models.

Yes a good condition black KX seems harder to find than a K2. I managed to find one a few months ago and my new baby is with Eric being CLA'd!

Thanks guys... Modern Photography magazine was in its glory in the 70s and early 80s... I love reading the old articles, they educated us and challenged us, respected our intelligence... also each issue had a gravure section for one phtographer, there was a long running vintage camera column, and of course Keppler.

I do have a real rarity coming up soon - would you believe a 5 page Pentax ad, possibly the last from Honeywell, with the SP-F, ES-II, SP1000, KX, K2, KM all on one page?

This ad makes me love my KX all the more. Best $50 I've ever spent.

More Nester more!

I used to buy this magazine on a regular basis back in the day although this predates my subscription a little. These old ads are really interesting. More so since I actually have some of the equipment. The black KX is a great looking camera surrounded as it is by so many lens I don't have such as the 15/3.5.

could you still but Pentax from Honeywell at this point? Im aware, Honeywell stopped selling Pentax with their name on it by the end of the m42 mount, but seeing the Honeywell name on the ad suggests they were still selling them. didnt Pentax have its own headquarters here by this time?

Yes, indeed. We all have our individual tastes, but to my eye (and hand) this is the most attractive camera Pentax has ever made.

Hmm, when they say "one other fine camera has the silver pentaprism but doesn't show aperture in the viewfinder", which one do they mean?

Got one (silver) and satisfied!

Now, as far as black is concerned, I don't get the hype. Sure there's not as many, so what?

I actually prefer the silver AND the silver finish is much more durable than the black.
