What I would REALLY like to have is one of the brown hard-leather cases! Ha! Ha!

(My little crown/eye thingies look more like some sort of light brass with an applied patina rather than pewter...)
You and me both!

I have seen a case made for the sit-on-top meter that has the crown/eye. It differs from the regular case by having sort of a pressed hump on the top that make the case look sort of clumsy.
That rules out my cases accepting the external meter.

Pentax used that logo on cases all the way into the 80's. the special front piece to the case for my ME F (for covering the AF zoom) has the eye/crown logo.
I have a case that is too small for a spottie, SV or H3 that has the crown with AP on it. It will fit my ME F with a 50mm lens on it. That leads me to believe that it may have been made for the MX or possibly the ME Super since there is no way it could accomodate the 35-70mm AF lens.

Edit: My "crown logo" case has a black screw that fits the tripod socket but is thinner than the one pictured by Gofour3 and it is thinner as well.

Edit Edit: It also fits my k1000 but not the K2. For one thing the K2 has the tripod socket slightly over towards the battery.

Gofour3,

I linked these from the KEH site. The first is listed for the A3 & A3000 and the second is for the K1000.

sans the white lettering, the bottom example certainly looks like the OP's.

Didn't the Spottie cases all have that little pewter eye-logo on the upper right shoulder of the front piece? I know mine do.
I's bet that is a K series case.
The eye-logo was on the Asahi cases. the Honeywell cases did not have it.

That is not a Spotmatic case. It's later. i am guessing K1000 or later.

See this auction for example:

Pentax Asahi K1000 SLR Film Camera 35mm & 135mm Lens - eBay (item 290333301982 end time Jul-29-09 21:45:00 PDT)

I know the lettering is not white, but it appears to be the same case and here it is associated clearly with a K1000.

Thanks Blue, I think we have a match. As for the white lettering, maybe the former owner
decided to spruce it up and got out the liquid paper!

I have seen many similar cases on eBay generally described as being for a K1000, but occasionally for KX or KM. The body dimensions for the three cameras are extremely similar so that sounds reasonable. The strange thing is that Gofour3's case has a very short snout and was apparently made for a body with a M series lens. I guess that pretty much narrows it down to a K1000.
