Problem with Super Program

hi there I recently got a super a and have noticed that since the battery has run flat, the depth of field preview has stopped working. I assumed this was entirely mechanical. Is there a direct link or has something happened within the mechanism that isn't so easy to fix?

sorry if this is in the wrong place!

I haven't specifically checked the dof when the battery is weak. However, the SuperProgram is battery intense.

My experience with the SuperProgram is that when the batteries start getting weak, swap them out for fresh ones. Saves you a lot of hassle and grief. It's the one real drawback of this model.

Otherwise I like it alot.

This is interesting. You're correct that the DOF preview is entirely mechanical.

I'm confused!

The SuperProgram doesn't operate without batteries.

Please read the initial post and my post again.

That's not the question.

The question is whether the DOF preview depends on batteries.

I have a SuperProgram in my hand right now, with the batteries removed.

The DOF preview still works. It is fully mechanical.

As some said above, the DOF preview is totally mechanical thing. Seems some part is broken inside. You can dismount the lens, and look from the front when depressing (pulling) the DOF preview lever.

Are you sure the lens isn't set at wide open? Maybe it's because your lens was set to wide open so you don't see any difference. Just a guess ...

You took my 2 posts out of context. You obviously didn't read my first post when I stated that I have never tried it with a weak battery but that the SuperProgram is battery intense. I have gotten some interesting malfunctions when the batteries are nearly spent. The second post was in response to you saying you were confused.
