I think that you need another category, one which reflects the fact that probably most of us who are not professionals have, in fact , no film bodies, but have gone completely digital.

I think that it would give a more complete picture.

This is in the Film slr forum. However, a separate poll for digital bodies would be more manageable anyway.

Really?

I'd have guessed that the professionals have sold their 35mm film gear. Cameras are tools to them and if the tool isn't making any money, redeploy the capital to a different tool.

I'd have guessed the hobbyists/enthusiasts have kept their film gear for the entertainment value of using it and/or the sentimental value of having it.

Of course, an enthusiastic, sentimental professional . . .

Some pros shoot both (particularly the medium and large format guys). Which media depends on the assignment.

I completely agree about hobbyists using film bodies for entertainment and/or sentimental reasons. I guess that includes the novelty of using a quality, precision tool. I do some film work for those reasons and because my film cameras are better tools for the landscape work that I truly love, but find difficult to do with the lenses I can afford for my dSLR.

As for this poll...I suppose I should vote, but of the six film bodies on my shelf (seven if you count a parts camera), only one is a Pentax.

Steve

(Might pick up a SV or MX if I find one cheap...really liked the P3n I handled the other day ago...too bad it is DX only for ISO...)

Reading the post about people not having film bodies with interest.
All I'm going to add is if you don't have a film body, shame on you. I picked up my P50 body for 12 (UK) so you can't say that it's expensive to own them.

The P50 was one of my very early cameras and my first Pentax, there is some sentimental attachment there.

I started a Digital Body poll to compliment this one.

Blue, I was just noticing there are two MZ/ZX-5n slots; one with 7 bodies and one with 5. Any chance of getting them combined?

Best,
Kevin

By the way, I like the idea of having this poll- maybe it deserves to go in the global announcement for a few days!
