One of the search services should be able to find some restaurants etc. near his address.

I did this once years ago when Eric ran his shop in Chicagoland.
I'm glad to see the rest of you finally getting on board!

His address turns up when you look at repair estimates, I think. Knoxville area, IIRC. But I'm not sure.

I am SO not surprised you would have thought of this -- and acted on the thought

Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee and is quite cosmopolitan. IIRC Sharps Chapel is a very old town, now populated by UT professors and others who want to live far enough away, but still close enough to work. Pretty rural feel.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone there, I've only stayed the night when driving to North Carolina.

BTW, whoever does this, I'm in.

I can maybe kick in in token. Haven't actually had any work done by him, but the skills are to be respected, I think. It's occurred to me in the past maybe *I* ought to go help/learn, but I bet he still has better eyes and hands for such things than I do.

I think it'd probably be sweet if the Forums sent some appreciation for being our go-to tech guy.

There are a few "Outback Steakhouse" restaurants near where Eric lives and you can get gift cards mailed to his house.

If this is ok with everyone I would use my credit card to purchase the gift card and you reimburse me what you are will to pay. (I guess Paypal is the only option).

How does $75.00 sound? That would be $5.00 or $10.00 each.

If anyone has any other ideas for a restaurant let me know. If we agree I will post a separate thread in the forum “film-slr” section, asking for participants.

What about an American Express Gift Card (or Visa or something)? Then the gift can be used as he pleases - kind of a cop-out, but I love getting those cards.

Wish I knew his non-camera hobby (he MUST have one).

Sure that sounds good as well.

Anyone else, Amex card or Outback card?

Thanks, Phil.

Good idea. I suggest that the rules be relaxed (?) to allow it to be started in Pentax Film SLR Discussion.
That way it can reach the most forum members familiar with Eric's contribution to the Pentax community.

I'd say, the former's more practical, the latter's more giftey.

I lean toward the latter, as he doubtless makes far more money than I do, but I nonetheless would support us showing our esteem.
