He has worked on 3 bodies for me this year and will likely get at least that many from me in 2010.

We have reached a total of $200.00 for Eric’s gift cards!!
A $75.00 “Outback Steakhouse” card has been shipped and we have $125.00 left for an Amex gift card.

I’m going to stop the donations here as we have an even amount and it will take a couple weeks using USPS to send the card in time for Xmas.

I’m having a problem buying the Amex gift card and I need a volunteer from the US.

I have an Amex card with a Canadian address; I can only get a gift card in CDN dollars that can only be used in Canada. I can’t buy a USD gift card that can be used in the states, with my Amex card. I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Amex and I have no way of doing this from Canada.

Can I send the $125.00 via PayPal, to someone in the US and you buy the card for Eric?

Please send me a PM and thanks to all that contributed:

PM Sent - I can do the deal

BTW - this is all the usual suspects - I'm not surprised. How are you handling the "From" part of the gift "To" Eric?

Thanks Paul, I have sent you the money via PayPal.

I was using "Pentax Forum Members" in the "from" field.

Additional gift Card on its way!

OK, I ordered the card, from "FilmUsers at PentaxForums" (they only allowed 25 characters). The AMEX Personalized Gift Card system is quite limiting, but they apparently send me an email that I can use to notify Eric the gift is on its way. I can put more sentiment in the email - if you want me to use your real name, please PM to me what you want - otherwise I'll just use screen names.

Something like this?

"Eric: We wanted to send you an apprentice for Christmas, but we thought you might already have one .

With heartfelt appreciation from us and our Pentax cameras and lenses.

Merry Christmas and God Bless.

(names)

Done and Done!!

(I blanked a lot of the personalization for security)

Confirmed ship date

Hi all: I spoke with AMEX this morning and confirmed the card has been manufactured (i.e. Eric's name has been imprinted) and it is set for shipping tomorrow. AMEX gave me guidance that he should receive it early next week. I was told the personalized email should be in my home mailbox this evening forr me to fwd on to Eric from "US."

Thanks Luc, PM replied.

Just a reminder we have stopped collecting and the gift cards have been purchased.
Any others that were interested in donating I’m sure we can do this again next year!!

Thanks again,

Phil

Never had a chance to ask Eric to fix any camera yet, 'cause normally I do CLA myself. Well, mostly I can do is C only, no L or A. Saw Eric selling a CLAed Super Program w/ lens at a reasonable price over two weeks ago, so I bought it, just tried to see why you guys are so raved about him, Paid for the item, now 2 weeks later, the camera still hasn't reached my address in the US Asked him about the shipment but he said there was no tracking info available although on the auction page he claimed the package would be sent out by priority mail.

My first experience w/ him certainly wasn't very satisfactory I have no doubt that he'd send the package out, but 2 weeks for shipping in the US is just way too long...

well you have to remember that it is the busiest time of year for the US post office so that may be a cause for a little bit of a delay if it was sent via the slowest means that may be a cause for the delay in getting it.
