Pentax NED camera?

I found this on shopgoodwill.com under a search for Pentax.
They are advertising an old 35mm SLR camera called a Pentax NED.

shopgoodwill.com - #5756290 - Pentax NED Camera + Flash Gun & Extra 200mm Lens - 1/29/2010 6:03:00 PM

Has anyone heard of this camera? I cannot find any information on it here, wikipedia, or anywhere. Even www.pentax-maunals.com has no listing for its manual.

Anyways, I just thought the name of it was amusing since Ned Bunnell is the president of Pentax Imaging (USA). Do you think they named this camera after him?

Yeah, I saw that too. Must be a P3N -- don't you suppose "NED" came from reading P3N upside down? Think about it.

I also found a blog where people were discussing and laughing about a Pentax NED camera for sale on ebay. Unfortunately, the link had expired to the ebay listing.

Here is the link to the blog: Correction : Pentax NED Camera : WAS RE: full frame rumours and innuendo

Pretty strange.

Can't lose much, so for ~$25 I'd get it.
It maybe a P3, or a ME, or something....

See this image I've borrowed from Welcome to Bojidar Dimitrov's Pentax K-Mount Page

When viewed from facing the lens the name is clearly 'NEd'.

...weird...

Maybe it belonged to a guy named Ned who had engraved his name on the camera. It could be one that Ned Bunnell sold to raise funds for his Leica.

If it belonged to Ned B., does that mean it is worth $1500 on fleabay?

This is hilarious!
I don't usually name my cameras, but from now on I will always refer to my P3N as "NEd"...

I would love to have a K7...

Steve

(Pity Pentax did not leverage this one for their K-7 marketing...)
