I recently picked up an AP for dirt cheap. Now it had a Super Tak attached to it, and the prism was foggy, but there wasn't a mark or scratch on it so I thought it was worth the risk. I sent an email to the seller and had an agreement to ship it straight to Eric for service (which I would pay for).
As expected, it took some extra effort from Eric to bring it up to shape, but provided I can eventually find the right lens for it at a reasonable price, I'll have ended up with an AP at a very good price, especially as it's had a CLA as part of that price. Who knows how long it would have taken to find a mint AP at a good price. Sometimes it's worth it, but there is some risk. Besides, it feels good to give these originals the attention they deserve....
