ZX-M screen in an MZ-3?

I recently picked up a fixer MZ-3 body. I currently own only manual focus lenses.
Though the body offers focus confirmation I'd prefer a focusing screen with focus aid.

A fellow forum member has kindly offered to send me a ZX-M screen.
Does anyone know if it will fit/work in the MZ-3?
If so I'll have Eric install the screen when he services the camera.

TIA,
Chris

Chris, it should. I did this to a ZX-5n, and my understanding is that the MZ-3 is a somewhat uprated ZX_5 or ZX_5n. Actually it can be swopped to a PZ-1 as well (buit not PZ-1p).

Read this thread: Re: zx-m focussing screen in zx5n
More here: Split-Image Focusing Screen in Pentax ZX-5n, ZX-L, etc?

Let us know how this works out.

I put a screen from MZ-M in my MZ-5n w/o any problem. I guess MZ-5n has the same screen as the MZ-3, it should work too.

Thanks. I vaguely remembered reading this here before, but couldn't find the threads.

Does the manual focus screen impair the autofocus function with AF lenses?

No, but it can and will impair spot metering.

Chris, If you don't mind, post the dimensions of the screen that fits the MZ-3.

I received the ZX-M screen last week. It measures 35 X 24 mm.
I'll post an update in this thread after Eric has serviced the MZ-3.

If the screens are the same size, you should have asked Eric to swap the screens while he had it.

That has been my plan from the outset. I'm sending them together.

My MZ-3 has a MZ-M split screen installed in it for a few years now, no problems with AF or metering for me. Go for it!

I'm not sure I recall correctly, but if the MZ-6 is the same as the ZX-L, a quoted article says it will.

Thanks RML, it looks like it's the same basic camera.
I'll have to get a screen and get it installed soon.

Since my boss fixes cameras I might ask him to install it nicely. He did a wonderful job fixing one of my Metz flashes.

Question, actually: does the MZ-M screen actually have less 'artificial' DOF on it, or just the split prism on the same thing?
