A Basically New K1000!!!

I just bought a "basically brandnew" (NOS-new old stock) Hong Kong made, K1000.

Will arrive in a few weeks... and I feel I have a few options for when it arrives and have not decided as of typing:

Use it happily as my film camera?
Store it away in its original box?
Sell it on to a collector?
Send it to Eric to be refreshed?

Any opinions, or suggestions?

I will upload photos if there is an interest in seeing it

K1000s are not that rare. If it is new, and the K1000 is not your thing, then sell it.

Although I've used my K1000 a fair amount in the little time that I owned it it isn't the first film camera I grab, and it never will be.
I'll grab either my MZ or PZ series cameras first, just because the automatic film advance, and A setting make them more of a pleasure to use.

However the K1000 makes a wonderful camera, if you's like something dedicated for B&W, IR, UV photography or something along those lines.

My response came off a little short too. The K1000 is a terrific camera and to find one in new shape is terrific! rom what I understand, there were a few different runs of the K1000 so you should try to figure out which run it is from....

Hongkong model: AOCO Asahi Logo, all metal. 1978-1990 (not the plastic top and bottom plate, chinese version)

Edit: Extra details: Stickers untouched, plastic on pressure plate not removed, original box and packaging, straps and documents unopened, camera only removed for photos.

It'll take awhile to get to me unfortunately.

I would try out your K1000 and run a couple rolls of film through it and see how everything works.

If you find the seals have dried out from sitting in the box for so long or any other issues, then you can send it to Eric for a CLA.

I would keep it and use it.

Phil.

Thank you for your comments.

I will update you all when it arrives (2weeks?)

Will not run film through it before I decide what to do with it. I will take it out to take photos of it and check the seals.

Was that the K1000+M50/2 kit on ebay? You got it for a steal. I was wwatching that one but didn't bid on it cause I "won" a ZX-5n+ FA28-80 only 2 hours earlier.
According to the K-Mount Page, the M50/2 stopped being sold in 1985 so that would be a good starting point for dating it.

Should be a great camera.

It arrived !

yay

Well first things first... I had to pay import tax

Anyhow, In the time I had waited I sourced a new soft case for the k1000 for if I decide to keep it.

First pics are of the boxes, I was a little annoyed as the k1000 body box is definitely a little ratty. Good news is that I feel it is definitely the HongKong version.

A quick pic of the boxes and the softcase..

Then: opening, contents, the k1000, and inside etc ^^ enjoy
