I use a Coolscan 9000, so there is no platten. There are manual focus and analog brightness adjustments. The auto exposure does just fine on most films, including Kodacrhome 25 and perfectly exposed K64. K64 is a real bear if the slide is even a little bit underexposed. I probably need to spend a bit more time with the analog gain and some of the pp features.
