Oh Yeah!

I got one on the way. I hope. It has been on order since Dec 15, 2009. It was shipped on 21st. I guess that is typical. At worst, I'm out $18. PLUS $20 for shipping...and another month's wait. I like both shots by the way. No busy bokeh, there.

Got myself a Russian night vision device with a Cyclop 1.5/85mm. The lack of aperture is bit limiting and focusing is hard because of the shallow DOF. But IQ is like Helios-40 when I get it right

I am a Viv 135/2.8 fan, but the Tair would be near the top of my list if I didn't already have the Viv.

Pre-set and expensive, but what the hay...20 aperture blades...

Another vote for the Tair 11a -- I have the vivitar too, but I prefer the 'look' of the tair.
But holy smokes it is heavy like a tank drive gear

Takes ok pics though

It looks like a warhead, should have had a huge red star and "Destination: Washington DC" painted on the barrel
Here are some shots from today's morning, first one at f/2.8 and others at f/11 (click for larger versions):

I've also owned the Vivitar and it's a lovely lens (and a lot cheaper), but the Tair is for the true LBA in all of us.

Just got my Helios 44k!!

Here it is. The Helios seems pretty darn sharp wide open. I am very happy. It is in great condition.

I took the photo with the Pentax 645 120mm, which is the lens in the second photo.

Helios Received

Thanks GerryL. Just got it! It's in great shape (...has one tiny cleaning mark on the front element that shouldn't effect photo quality.). It feels very solid, too. The aperture ring clicks nicely. It's a bit stiffer to focus than my Takumars, but not too bad. As for shipping, the postmark indicates 1/24/09. That explains the longer delay, I suppose. Oh well, gotta' find me some subjects, quick. Here kitty kitty...
