It's worth noting the Amazon from Amazon price is still $863. It's one of the Amazon sellers that has it for $827.

Amazon has warehouse deals body-only for $770 (or so) in like new condition, w/their 30 day return policy in place as well. From my experience their warehouse 'like new' deals usually means a corner of the box was dented in the warehouse, haha.

It's listed on Amazon, but not actually sold by Amazon. You process payment through Amazon's check out, but it's sent from the seller listed on the page. Gotta check those sellers' feedback first.

Is there any risk if those sellers are selling a new camera, though? Doesn't amazon have some sort of built-in protection system?

Yeah I've been eyeballing those. I don't know that $770 is enough of a price difference. I hope that Pentax makes some camera announcements soon...

Well, that's the risk in itself. You know Amazon's new is going to be untouched, but there is no guarantee that these other sellers didn't open up, test, or display their "new" camera they are selling. Also no way of knowing if it's gray market with a lesser warranty or not. Amazon always lists which is import or USA warranty version.

I've never had any claim through Amazon to see how well they back you on getting goods with issues.
