I'm considering selling my DA40 for it, since the 40 is pretty close to my 50's. But it does fit nicely in my pocket...

Well I don't have a 50mm, so 35 vs 40 is pretty much the same for me. The 40 sells around 300 used, minus paypal fees and shipping so around 270. The 35 + taxes + shipping would be 210 for me. I think the quality and form factor of the 40mm is worth the 60$ difference.
On the other hand, I don't believe the 35 will be less than that new, and we won't see a lot of them used because it won't be worth reselling it.
