Does this software make a huge difference compared to using just lightroom ?

Yeah, it does, generally because it lets you do things faster and makes the final product look more like what you want it to look.

This is especially true for their DeNoise plugin, which blow's away Adobe's noise reduction tools. Here are some before and after's:
