Discounted DA 15mm Limited
Posted By: mrnotwo, 05-09-2012, 01:49 PM

So I've been checking internet every morning for discounts for DA15mm limited but prices have been going up but today I found some on valleyseek:
ValleySeek.com: PENTAX Imaging Company 21800 Pentax smc DA 15mm f/4 ED AL Limited Ultra Wide Angle Lens for $525
and ebay for $570:
PENTAX 21800 DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited 0027075147362 | eBay
PENTAX 21800 DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited 0027075147362 | eBay

Considering they are going over $500 used in for sale section here and I've seen them hit $600 used on ebay, I think these are great prices. I ordered form valleyseek and got fedex tracking number few hours later.

Edit: $500 used on amazon like new

FYI if any retailer sells the lens below the minimum price, Pentax will not honor the warranty because it wasn't an authorized sale. Just something to keep in mind. I think the ebay links are ok, though.

If a manufacturer tries to weasel out of honoring a warranty solely because you found a good price on an item, I don't think it's morally wrong to photoshop the receipt. This only applies to the non-gray market.

509 + 12 shipping, a tempting price for sure.

Huh, sounds like price despotism from Pentax side. Worse than Nikon has been acting lately.

Nikon seems to have implemented the same policy as Pentax - they're all going to the unilateral scheme for some reason.

Sounds like it is a time to stop buying Pentax or Nikon. Hello 40 megapixel Nokia..

When my turn comes for a 15mm, it will be an interesting choice between the DA and fisheye Sigma. Each is excellent, each has differences worth considering, and prices are now very similar. No losing with such choices, but the lighter DA15 is my current front runner.

It has had me looking at a 60D instead of a K-5. Hysterical

'Will not' or 'reserves the right not to'?

Last month I would've said my respect for Pentax's decisions couldn't get any lower...

Probably the former, unfortunately. They'll also get angry and whatever retailer "violates" the price-fix policy.
