Buy now at $3,000. Two bids declined (5/16). All I can say is wow but the last one went for $2900ish.

I don't get it. At this prices, a Nikon D700 and Nikon 200mm micro seems like a better deal.

Me, either. I paid about $100 for an "M" and they're still well under $200 on eBAY. Oh, no auto aperture, no ED. That explains it!

You can only appreciate the value of the lens when you've used it and see what it can do.

The current one looks absolutely MINT.
What would one have cost new?

+1. I'd stick my neck out and state it's the best lens Pentax has produced to date.

That * does count for something you know. And the macro too.

The A equivalent of the one you are talking about is this: https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-A-200mm-F4-Lens.html

Sorta different.

Limited supply - so get a Canon/Nikon camera with a new lens at better price.
Or pay less for a Voigtländer 4/180M.

Pentax has many black holes in their portfolio, so princing for old macro and FA lenses is hilarious.
