Well, if they go up after they are discontinued (as many have ventured) they they may well be able to turn a couple hundred profit buy having it sit on the shelf for a couple of months.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm in for one. Should hold me over till the 5D2 hits $1500 brand new (or the rumored Canon model emerges to battle the rumored D600).

FYI for others who don't know: Beach Camera has wicked ebay Deal of the Day promotions. They manage to sell through 40 (and once, 100) 5D2 + 24-105L packages in less than 30 minutes at $2499 a pop. Keep an eye on them

Personally, I use SlickDeal's notification system since people are all over the place finding stuff like this and you can customize it in all kinds of ways. In other words, let others do the work

You can also sign up for alerts at deals.ebay.com but I think it sends you an email with all the "new" daily deals.

Pentax stuff is posted so rarely I don't have an alert set up. I actually found the deal here on PF then went to SD to check it out further.

Edit: Beach's best promos are almost always Daily Deals on ebay.

69 sold as of a minute ago. Weird there were 3 sales to different user addresses within ~10 minutes of each other and each was for 3 K-5s and those are the only multiple sales of K-5s (and all 3 within 5-10 minutes of each other). And it still says more than 10 left!

People on that *************** forum really love Pentax, here is what I gathered from multiple users, of which I already knew but could not have described it better. It all came down to one person saying Pentax is a "unknown brand unlike Canon and Nikon". Putting what the responders said altogether I came to this.

The Pentax K1000 is the SLR that had the highest production numbers in history, was used by many photojournalists, went to war with our troops, and is commonly acknowledged as one of the all time great SLRs for durability and solid utility. The early K1000 was made in Japan and the later ones were made in Hong Kong. I sold my K1000 to Adorama at a camera show & sale along with a bunch of Pentax 67 bodies and lenses in 1991. I also sold my LX system that year also.

Hmm 70 sold and more than 10 left. Did BeachCamera literally buy a megaton of K-5's to stock up because they knew this would happen when they put this sale up? My prediction is that it will sell 150 by the time 3 days left of it's listing is over.

80 K-5s in a warehouse is to me customer service nightmare of worst proportions . . . . How many of those will be a dud? What if they are left overs from earlier batches? No way I would buy one. No thanks.

Why wouldn't u buy one? They are a great company for refunds and replacements. I've bought several things from them with no worries.
