Hrmmmmm.. the price of the K-r is very slow to decrease... For $250 more one can get a K-30 which should last A LOT longer specs wise (16MP, WR, better video abilities, better AF, focus peaking, etc). The jump after that will be much larger.. (provided Pentax actually release something flagship-ish this year)

Is there still talk of a K300 these days?

Does anyone actually buy those strange colors, or are they just used to draw attention to displays? I would not feel right using a bright colored DSLR.

Not really. That's why these are still in stock, even though the K-r has been discontinued for months.
