A couple examples at the top of this page, I obviously have not done any scientific testing and do not own the lens, I just feel like this is the type of stuff I have seen from the lens. I know these are contrasty areas but I would think it would be better than this.
That got to be the worst case i have seen, you can get this with all the older fast lenses if you try using them wide open in that sort of light and background and strong light i took shots at a birthday party last week it was 11am to 3am back yard full of sun and none of my shots came anywhere near this amount of fringing ,

And what a beautiful copy it is.
If I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to grab it.
My guess, and it's just a guess is 1.5x to 2.5x that price. $1500 would be a steal. 2k is more reasonable.

Only with old fast lenses? My experience is that any fast lenses are prone to fringe. Even my 2.8 DA*s are likely to fringe in some conditions wide open.

Wow. I am amazed by the prices this lens fetch all the time. Is it really better than a canon 135mm f2?

Well, I put it on my watch list, but chances of it's staying at a price within my budget are slim to the point of invisibility.

Difficult to say, probably not...anyway I would like to see comparison of those two. Prices on old Pentax glass, especially star lenses are far off unfortunately.

7:00 Pm US MDT, 09/16/2012...US$ 653.81, with 4 days + 15 hours to go.
This is getting to be a very expensive piece of glass!

I'll say $1700 US. It is $630 EU now with 22 bids and about a day to go. Fun to watch the last minute sharp shooters on this one.

It does look like it is in great shape. The gold football export sticker is still on it and the very weak leather hinge on the Pentax case looks like it is in excellent shape. The location is Zurich. Happy hunting.

I agree with phil1 , if there are to many new to ebay with low feedback the price usually goes high as they bid it up to early .

Well, I will "up the anti"!
I reckon that this is a beautiful example, complete with case, caps etc.
If there are two people who REALLY want this, it could get close to $2K?
Cheers, Pickles.

I think the biggest problem I have always had with the A star primes (my dream lenses) is that there is nothing they can do that is worth the extra money. I don't really see it in the image quality compared to other glass that is 25% of the price (or less), and that tiny bit of extra speed gives you such a thin depth of field that its only useful for specialty purposes.

They always cost a fortune, even way back when. I would still love to find an A20 2.8, well worth the $400 (edited price) or more they go for when they even come up considering its the widest manual focus A lens before prices get really cracked.
I have no idea what some of the stuff on this list even is, I forget which board member I have to thank for this ad.
