FA* 400mm for $2839

Pentax-FA* 400mm F/5.6 ED(IF) SMC & IF For PK Mount Lens W/Hood+Box | eBay

Seems a bit expensive to me, but I've seen these listed almost as little as the FA* 200/4 macro.

I remember back in February or March, there was one listed here in the Marketplace for $2200 I think - it was sold within an hour
I bought it that time for $2000 actually. It is in better condition than listed above. Since that time I saw the same lens just once on ebay that has been sold for something like $1800+ (ebay.de) and it was in excellent condition.

I have heard from another former Pentax shooter that it's very lightweight, quite compact, and very pleasing to use, but that the quality in some situations isn't quite what you might expect from the FA* series. This shooter specifically mentioned some ghosting in high contrast situations, but he wasn't sure if it was the lens or the body or what
I actually have not had a lot of time using this lens preferring *300/4.5 in most situation. When I tried, it was not easy. The feel and handling is great. The look is awesome. People turn heads :) AF is fast. The lens is sharp wide open but exhibits strong CA that disappear completely only at f8. So optically it is worse than *300/4.5 that has zero CA wide open.
