Shouldn't last long at that price.

Only two photos of the lens itself, one of which is the same as the photo in the lens review here.

Man I was trying to con the wife into letting me buy it but she wanted our vacation in Nov.

I'll bet a store like KEH bought it and they will resell it for $6000.00

KEH had one about 1.5 months ago for $2469 - I thought about it for 20 minutes so it wouldn't be a totally impulse buy, but it was gone when I went back to buy it.

Not on the weekend. I think it was a forum member from here or the other forum. Someone with an ebay search filter.

The FA with the powerzoom is what I'd prefer.

This is a super useful lens and I would have at least like to have seen the listing while it was open to be able to say I had a chance

250-300mm for heards and big animals like elk and moose then all the way out to 600mm for birds and other smalls. It would be really nice to have.

Ouch.

Not as bad, but I missed on an F*300f4.5 BGN for under 500 because I searched for a matching filter. I even had the order confirmation, but got called the next day and someone else got it (from the other forum it turns out...).

I bought it. I have a very bad case of LBA and couldn't for the life of me pass on this lens at the listed price even though I own the Sigma 500 4.5, which I love. I got very quick feedback from the seller on shipping arrangements, which was reassuring. I'll post something in a week or so when it arrives and find out if I'm a pig in slop or a fool.

That photo of the lens DB is of my copy, which was taken by the ebay seller. I wonder if it's the same guy! In any case, it's rare to see these in the $3000 range, but that's the price I was able to secure a couple of years ago as well.
