So I broke down and finally ordered the K-5, a new Class 10 SD card (16GB), additional battery and Pentax extended warranty. Meyer @ Adorama was most helpful. I was closing the deal on phone when the power went out - thanks to Sandy. Just received confirmation of the order (they are running on generators), and it should be on a truck when possible. Evidently, they weathered the storm OK. He did not offer more details, but sounded relieved.

This is a huge upgrade, going from a *ist DS to a K-5. I plan to try the existing screen for MF, but any suggestions for a new focus screen for all my MF lenses will be welcomed.

I have the D800e and 645D to play this month as part of an in-depth review we're doing. I took a few shots to compare the D800e and the K-5, and while the D800e winds hands-down head-to-head, I found that when the Nikon doesn't have a stabilized lens and it's not that bright outside, the Pentax has an immense advantage. This K-5 is not to be underestimated, and at this price, I think it's a real steal. I keep on reminding myself that I paid $1749 for mine...

UPS has it 3 miles away. They cannot release it to me because it is scheduled for delivery on Monday by end of day. Sigh...... The wait continues.... Thanks for the encouragement, Adam. If I am worried about anything, it is potential focus issues, particularly if I want to change the focus screen.

I had a K3 (Nikon) style with the rule of thirds grid on a K-x (installed by the previous owner) and it is just lovely for focusing.

I have given that camera away now but when I decide to get a focusing screen for my K-5 this is the one I will get.

I had the k3 screen before and it was very nice. Look at their example pictures to help you decide.
