92% discount, they're probably selling out the stock. Might be of interest to users from EU.

I have no idea if it could work, sorry. If you want to try, I can buy it and send it over.

There are a couple of threads about attempts of forum members to build such devices (I forgot for which Pentax bodies). The results were not encouraging. It seems there is some kind of digital communication between the body and the external power supply, which disables the use of a non-Pentax device. There are quite cheap power supplies for Canon, which offer the exact same specifications, but they are not accepted by Pentax bodies.

Attempts to insert a clone of the batteries connected to the PS instead of using the dedicated plug also led to problems, as it turned out that then there are occasional extreme current peaks. If the response of the PS does not exactly mimic the response of a battery, the supply is also rejected. It is possible that these peaks are used to find out about the charging state of the batteries, as they do not occur using the standard plug.

There are also 3 German sources for the original K-AC76E, but more expensive than the (old) Slovenian price:

There is no digital communication between a k-x and a dc power supply. Just make sure you get the polarity right and your battery mode set on auto . A reliable cheap power source for 5v is PSP adapters...I use them all the time on my Zoom recorders
heres a link to a instructional hack on a k-m sorry its in Japanese I think but the pictures are pretty explanatory. If you want to wait a week or 2 I plan on doing this mod in my own way ..I will post a tutorial

Do you think this could work with the D-BG4? I mean, it does take AAs.
