K-5 now only $799 at Adorama - ALL-TIME LOW!

Pentax K5 K-5 Digital SLR Camera Body, Black 14748

They keep on doing better and better! How compelling is this for those of you that are still shooting with K10's and 20's?

Just pulled the trigger on the K5 from Amazon. $789 with a little credit card discount.
Should be here monday.

My biggest single reason for getting it over my K20 is the superior ISO performance. I hope I'm right.

i have both. you won't be dissapointed

The lower K5 prices are pushing prices down on the older models as well. I've seen some very good deals in the Marketplace for K7s, K10Ds, etc. It's becoming easier for first-time Pentaxians to buy into the system.

Agreed. I wouldn't be thinking about a new camera body if the K-7 wasn't so low right now. The K10D too.

I have to get at least 25000 to 30000 clicks on my K-r first though… I've already managed over 9000 since March...

Copy from an email I sent Sigma a while back about lenses for The pentax K-mount.:

"None of the current lenses are weather sealed at this time.

In a very happy mood. iPhone 5 plus Chinon 200mm f3.5 equals fun

I pulled the trigger earlier this week. I noticed Beach Camera was selling K5s for $829 through Amazon on Tuesday, so, I decided to check their page to see how much of a price difference it was. They had them listed for $799! After a $25 off coupon code, I paid $774 with free shipping. It arrived yesterday. While I was interested in a K5ii, the $500 or so difference between the two for a new camera with a full warranty was huge. When it comes down to it, the differences between the K5 and the K5ii/iis mean nothing to me, as I am not a pro, and the step up from my K20D is a virtual quantum leap! And, even though I may miss my K20D (sent it to KEH for an appraisal) because I really liked that it felt like a tank, I have quickly fallen in love with the K5 and look forward to pushing it and my skills to the next level!

If you are only talking about K-mount lenses, that's a different story.
However, even for K-mount the 150mm macro is already announced and I reckon other WR lenses will follow.

I think that the all time low for a new K5 was from Samy's Camera in LA who sold them one day in mid January for $749. I was lucky. However, it looks like the price is getting close....That poster essentially has made my year - a K5 at the best price all year and I have been enjoying the camera all year. All I can say is Thanks!!!

I've been agonizing over K-5 vs. K-30 (and even thinking about the K-5II/s as a longer-term thing), but I finally pulled the trigger on this Adorama deal. Can't wait to get my hands on it, but I won't actually see it until Christmas! Wish I could've kitted it with an 18-135 but I guess that'll have to wait until next Christmas.

The $ 798.00 price is toying, I might have to think about a mate for my *istD. The K-5 Kit is $ 833.00 including Camera Body, SanDisk 16GB SDHC Ultra Memory Card, Spare DL-I90 Type (not Pentax) Battery, Adorama Slinger Camera Bag, Digital Memory Case. Also the K-5 body and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL WR lens is $ 899.00. All of these with free shipping.

Isn't a mate for your *ist D long overdue by now? Shake reduction alone is worth upgrading for, and let's not mention the image quality gain

I pulled the trigger last night. K-5, D-BG4, 2yr extended warranty. Gave Helen the sale.
Added a pair of Pearson batteries from B&H to round out the kit.

And it is amazing how 2 years of patience has been completely dissolved by the receipt of a UPS tracking number.
