KEH: Vivitar Series 1 105mm Macro $172
Posted By: vonBaloney, 11-05-2012, 02:40 PM

Normally I'd snap this up, but can't do it today. Graded EX, with a price about $100 less than you'd get it on ebay. It won't last long.

Not I - but I grabbed an UG smc-A 24/2.8 from them, for about $80 below the average reviewed price. Amazing deal, as is/was this one.

The UG stuff is always very cheap, of course it may be broken or whatever...

I snagged an "Ugly" Canon 135mm f/2, and it was as good as new with a tiny cleaning mark on the side of the front element. KEH grades stuff very tough!

KEH is not an auction site. They are a camera broker who buys and sells camera equipment for a set price.

Yes, I know. I was more thinking of it like "Model Nr172", just like some lenses got a model number to separate the different variants.

Yeah, it was $172 USD. Plus shipping is a minimum of $13 from them within U.S. They regularly sell in the $275 range on ebay.

Talking about experience with KEH, maybe my luck was bad. I bought BGN-rated lenses twice from them. The lenses appeared to be just BGN or worse, nowhere near any better than that. I definitely can't say they are very good or excellent if I am to sell them. Since this experience, I won't buy BGN or lower from them, especially for lenses. Just my experience though.

Yeah, same here. The BGNs are hit or miss. I've also had a couple "EX" or better than were just plain broken and had to send them back, so hit or miss all around I guess...
