Nice! And now we're starting to approach the true value of the camera, and what the original sticker price should have been

Too bad I only saw this today.
I just bought another brand's quality compact last week.

$200 is "starting to approach the true value of the camera?"

Wow... you really have a bias against the Q.

Adam frequently makes the first reply to Q threads with a dismissive comment. That's just how the Q forum here works.

I'm surprised that your list omitted Adam's most notable Q thread:

Let's be honest with ourselves here- unless you're an enthusiast and/or a Pentax shooter to begin with, why would you consider a new Q over something like the NEX 5n, which is cheaper, or even a Sony point-and-shoot, for that matter? There's a reason these things aren't selling outside of Japan...

All I'm trying to say is that if Pentax priced the Q competitively over here, it would get the attention it deserves. $200-$250 for the kit would be reasonable. The Q isn't a bad camera, but it really doesn't boast much over other mirrorless systems, and in some ways (like zooming), it's less convenient to use than an upper-end point-and-shoot.

Just look at the K-01: now that the price is right, basically everyone who ever considered one is buying it. That certainly wasn't the case before the price was slashed!

Adam is right. The Q was not even on my radar to begin with. However, forum members such as Barondla have brainwashed me into thinking long and hard about the Q for its telephoto and macro capabilities. Just the morning I posted the deal, I was wishing I could get a good price in Au similar to the Amazon warehouse deal. Then this happens. It was a bit like a catch in focus buy.

Adam, I've had nice P&S cameras and I've never had just plain fun playing with a camera like I am with the Q. It's really great that with an adapter and my old K45-125 I have an amazing tele-zoom that goes from 247.5 to 687.5mm equivalent. I agree somewhat about the price. I did not buy one at the $700, $500, or even $400 levels but did when it hit $300. Would I like to see it at a lower price, not really. At some point the lower price makes people dismiss a camera for lack of perceived value. Now, I just wish that the 06 would be released and that they would offer the 01 independent of a body for those that only have 02 lenses.
