Doesn't it feel great to be free of Maximum Assured Pricing? Now the Pentax 16-50mm is only $749!

Well, do you need the weather sealing? If not, I would still go for the Sigma. (though this low price is also difficult to pass up on, as it's going to go back to full MSRP for good soon...)

Well, I've never owned a star lens before and I'm replacing another, older Sigma (18-50 macro) that has developed major flare issues for some reason. I'll likely still just go with the Sigma 17-50 due to the DA*16-50's issues.

Sounds like a plan- but on new DA*'s, the af issues should be fixed sigma's longer warranty is definitely nice, though.

I came ever so close to ordering one, which would have been a second copy for me. I was so hyped up about this fantastic pricing I almost lost my mind. I have a perfect copy of this lens and certainly don't need 2!

Just bought the 16-50mm. Been waiting a long time and I hope I made the right decision. I shoot concerts and events in venues large and small. I live in rainy Seattle and WR is important here.

FYI guys, this deals expires at the end of the day, then it's back to buying second-hand if you want reasonable prices!

I came very close, but the reason I want another (4th) zoom in that range is because the focus died on my DA 17-70 during a shoot. I just wasn't sure enough to buy another SDM to replace it. On the bright side, the kit lens at F7+ did just fine with a little adjustment in the lighting. One of the kit-replacement lenses which has gone funny along the way is a Sigma 17-35, so it is not like that option is totally without qualms either.

Just curious of those who bought the DA*16-50 during this sale - are the lenses or boxes marked Pentax Hoya or Pentax Ricoh?

My DA 50-135mm had Hoya on it but it was only in 1 place and very small.
