Nice find baro-nite!

I looked at the offering page, and looks quite interesting. From what I can see from the description these are mainly for portrait photography with flash. I am very interested in learning more about off-camera flash, but not at all interested in portrait photography. Also, I couldn't find any end user reviews at all.

Going to dig some more - for the price I may still get the Lighting in Layers set.......

Stan, I've been following the Strobist site for a while now, so I know he (David Hobby) is a good storyteller and teacher. And while he emphasizes people shots, it is generally out in the field (the point of Strobism being that it is highly portable as well as inexpensive, basically taking studio lighting techniques but applying them anywhere and everywhere), and hence applicable to a lot of different subjects. I don't know if he produces good video or not, but I'm about to find out.

I agree that the fundamentals can be applied to anything.

I did watch this youtube video a while back, which is an excerpt from one of his sessions that are available on DVD, and do like the style of the presentation. Not sure which of the 3 DVD sets this one is from though.

Ordered Strobist and Lighting in Layers.

Thanks for informing us of this deal; I needed something to keep myself busy during Christmas break.

crap... it's 9:27pm pacific time and it won't take the promo code. I've sent an email to them asking to see if they will apply the promo prices to me later but I'm not holding my breath. Hate it when stuff like this happens.
