Well, I put my money where my mouth is and ordered one yesterday. The FA 31 is just too much money and I've said so many times on these forums. I waffled for a few years with the price at $489 for the Sigma 30. But as soon as I saw Adam's post yesterday, I went for it. Maybe the lens isn't perfect, but it's what I want and need for this focal range. And you can't beat the price. I also ordered the DA 40 Limited after waffling for years between that and the FA 43. But the DA is now $379 and the FA is something like $579. And the DA 40 will be great (along with the DA 21) on my K-01. Thanks for the updates Adam.

I have it on backorder at B&H for the $349.00 price. Should go nicely on my new K5! I often find myself using manual focus anyway, so the lack of HSM doesn't bother me much.

Charles, if you want something that takes dreamy portraits and makes the center the focal point, then the sigma 30 is the right one. If you want sharp wide open, dreamy colors, and so so bokeh get the da 35 2.4. I've had both, and I will say that the 35 is an awesome lens all around, but I wanted a more portrait style and went to the 30. The have very different strengths, but both are charming in their strengths. Portraits and people get the sigma, all around the DA 35 is pretty swell.
