No worries. It does seem a good deal if you want a fast 30!

This is the non HSM version, correct? Some of the reviews state that it's loud, so it sounds like it's screw drive. It's strange that the HSM versions for Canon and Nikon are $349.

if this had HSM, I'd snap it up. even without it, the price makes it very tempting. a poor-man's FA 31.

Yea same here... If it had HSM I would've bought it already. So are we basically SOL if we want an HSM or SDM fast prime that's normal or wider on APS-C?

I have a 24mm f1.8 and 35mm f2 but both are screw drive and I feel sort of self conscious when using it in quiet museums...

B&H appears to have a used copy of the HSM version for $389. Condition 9.

My error. It was the Nikon version that got fished up in a "used sigma pentax 30mm" search.

It still doesn't have HSM though, right?

For those desperate to get HSM the new 35mm F1.4 will have it, plus it's a DG lens

although I really would like a 30mm for APS-C. really nice focal length. my FA 35 is great but there are times when it's just a touch too long.

Haha Adam, if you can work some magic to get the price down on that lens, I might end up buying it... I really would like a quiet focusing lens. Manual focus works but I have trouble getting the focus sometimes on my trusty old K20D.

Dunno if that's ever going to happen- it's already only about 50% of what Canon and Nikon charge for their 35mm F1.4's...

But there might be $50-100 IRs, who knows.

Argh!

A fast normie prime was the absolute next thing on my lens list, and I was going to save up for the FA 31 next year, but this deal is way too good to pass up.

No more Christmas money for me.

It really is a great lens, particularly as a short portrait lens, though I use it for a lot more than that. It has excellent contrast, color, and center sharpness. At this price, if I didn't own it already, I'd buy it in an instant.
