Ugh! My resistance is crumbling... it's all new-in-box with OS and HSM and everything!

I already have a 150-500, and recently got a Q (well, two Qs) for ultra telephoto...
Don't need...
But want!

I also have a 150-500, gotten when the price difference was $600. At this price, I might have jumped on the Bigma. At the time, I had several lenses in the 50-200 range, so the wide end was not that important. I'm pretty happy with the 150-500, though it seems to be overexposing lately.

Adam......I looked back on your original review.

It seems you weren't blown away. I recently upgraded to the K-5iiS and am looking for the long (semi-affordable) lens to match with its sharpness.

Is this the one?

The 50-500mm loses a lot of resolution at 500mm, so I would say no, get a fast prime instead. Don't get me wrong, the 50-500mm is a great lens for wildlife, etc., but if you really want to take advantage of the IIs's added resolution, this isn't the lens for you.

Thank you Adam......

Off-topic now....aside from a new Sigma 500/4.5 (I'd need to sell a kidney, and at my age I probably need them both). What should I be looking for?

For an extreme-tele lens? The 300mm F2.8 should get the job done (though that's half a kidney right there).

All you have to do is back off the lens to about 450mm and it tightens right up on most cameras. I rented this lens and was very impressed. It may not be for the pro photographer but it's fine for the amatures... I hope they save me one till I sell my other lenses in the marketplace.

FYI there seems to be some confusion on this deal as it will not show via the link.

I did call in and the salesperson was diligent in following up be to able to get me the discounted price applied, but it appears to require some non-automated procedures and may even be an exception in my case.

That being said - since I was unable to use the link Adam, do you just require a copy of the invoice or number for the pass through benefits?

I agree. I have a 6 month old Bigma, and it's hard to "love". I've been toying with selling it. I think I am going to make a decision when my DA*300 comes.

The Bigma is a great lens, just not for me.

My intended use for this lens will be for outdoor school sports where my Sigma 70-200 needs a little more reach for the far end of the field, and could go a little wider to catch all the action when it gets close.

I've owned a 170-500 previously so my expectations from this lens are reasonable.

I've been keeping an eye out for a good used one but at this price 'new with Sigma warranty' is a no-brainer.

Congrats on the Bigma purchase Larry! Glad to see you got the price straightened out with a phone call and to let others know.

Thanks Stan. I'm looking forward to trying it out, but the VISA seems a bit depressed after this wild bargain season.
Hope Pentax doesn't announce the next APSC body for a while

Tell me about it. Pentax should be happy my money went to Pentax (and B&H) instead of Kawasaki. Without a FF this year, the floodgates opened, and I bought a TON of gear.
