Would be really interesting to see some shots taken with that monster. I heard that mirror lenses in the past used to be higher quality than many modern ones, because the manufacturers tried harder (and for a time actually thought that mirror lenses are the future of tele photography)

This looks like one fine mirror lens.
The built in filters are quite handy.

Today I saw a different one of these, and a Rubinar 1000/10 mirror in a little shop: Camera Hospital, Prinseps Street, Singapore, just off Middle Road.

Interesting... I am actually asking becouse I have one in great condition and thinking about selling it here in the market place but do not know how much to ask for it.. I would certainly trade it for a FA31
I'd say you might get a better price for it here than the 'Bay. I know of a few examples that sold in the 600 - 800 range, one even for 595.. when I was looking at these long focal lengths in the past couple of years or so.

The lens is still there. That tell you how reasonable is the asking price. A "reasonable" price is to halve whatever Hong Kong used dealers ask, no exception. I know these dealers well.

You are better off getting the K1000/8 if you want an old manual focus super telephoto lens.

Why do you say this? in this comparison the 1000/11 reflex does a lot better than the 1000/8 lens.. It is 1 stop slower, but with better aberrations control and not as heavy..
