Got it today! The customs officer was nice and told my brother he wouldn't charge anything for it.

I wonder how much heavier the new version is.

Yeah, the new 50-150mm is actually a hair bigger and heavier than a lot of the FF 70-200mm lenses, even though the 50-150mm is designed for APS-C. It doesn't make any sense, and I don't think they'll sell very many.

Ok, I just tested mine, and it does focus (slowly) in live view.

Isn't that how every lens focuses in live view on the K-5?

I guess so

Maybe I found my DA 18-135mm WR faster But I think it has faster focus than any of my other lenses.

Edit: I just tried moving back away from the minimum focal distance, and it seems to focus much faster in live view.

Must not have been many available. I was psyched when I read it was available again and jumped on to buy only to see it is back ordered again. Need to be a little faster I guess... This was my alternative to the DA* 50-135, I guess I may still have to go that route.

Probably just a few that got purchased and then returned from the last batch. The Sigma rep I spoke to specifically said all their old stock was gone and there would not be any more.

just a question, when you guys said that you cant AF on liveview before the updates, do you mean you can't AF at all or you can AF but it is hunting terribly?

My experience with this issue has been that when you try to AF in live view, the lens runs all the way through its focusing range and then stops without locking focus, leaving the AF box red on the screen.

Took mine on a walk the other day. Camera felt fine on a shoulder strap. I was lucky this little guy flew right beside me. Kind of surprised me I snapped a few pictures without adjusting setting before it flew away.

I noticed lightroom thinks it's a different lens, saying it's a "Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM II",

The picture looks great. It's hard to tell from the reduced-size image, but it looks like focus accuracy was pretty good. Did you send yours in for calibration, or did you dial it in yourself?

Mine also identifies as a 70-200mm in Photoshop. I've asked about this issue in the past, and from what I remember the lens name in EXIF is dependent on lens manufacturers working together with camera manufacturers to make sure the lenses and cameras are on the same page there. It obviously doesn't always happen, and the third-party lenses seem to be prone to this kind of thing.

Ya the focus on that one was good. But I had the aperture at f/8 hehe.

Using a focus chart it seemed to front focus a bit, so I dialed that in. I'll have to experiment with it wide open more and see how it is.
