WOW!

These won't last long, I'm sure. $499 for the awesome and rare Sigma 50-150 F2.8 EX DC HSM II.
50-150mm F2.8 EX DC HSM II Refurbished | Sigma

Last time it was offered in the Sigma Outlet Store was for $559.

As discussed here in this thread:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-price-watch/195883-refurbished-si...nses-sale.html

And Edgar does an excellent write-up of this lens here:

When you are testing focus accuracy, I suggest that you do not shoot at subjects closer than about 3 meters, since focus accuracy can be a bit unpredictable closer than that.

Thanks, ya I agree. I had forgotten about some of the discussion here, and when I got in less than 3 meters the focus was all wonky. Eventually I recalled people mentioning something about this, and moved back a bit. Then I got more consistent results.

Thought I should mention it......I have been lugging around this lens on my K5 for the past two weekends and no less than 3 people have commented what a wonderful 'camera' it is...just by looking at it from a distance...
and one was a member of the Boston Photography Club while the other was starting on 'Specialized Photography' Classes and the third said he used a Nikon D90...
Duh.......if all this was true they would know that it is not the 'Camera'

I also get regular compliments and questions when using the 50-150mm. I know that opinions are mixed on the Sigma "crinkle" finish, but I've always thought the lens looked very sharp on my camera. The manufacturing of the lens seems to be of very high quality, and people who don't even know much about photography can tell that the lens is a cut above the ordinary. I don't have any pics of the lens on my white K-30 yet, but here are some pics of it on my old K-x:

I happen to have a Nikon D7000 laying around here (it's for sale!) so I might take advantage of the situation and use the Nikon to take some pictures of the K-30 with the 50-150mm.

I don't use a strap with the K-30. With my K-x I used the original Pentax neck strap, but I never bothered installing the Pentax strap on my K-30. I don't find the combo of the K-30 and 50-150mm difficult to handle at all. I've thought about buying one of the hand-straps, and will probably do so in the future.

Okay, I just took some shots of my K-30 with the 50-150mm. Photographing something that is 50% glossy white and 50% matte black is rather challenging, but here's what I've got so far.

That was fast Edgar! (Just the exposure, lol.)

re strap: I usually use hand strap on my k-3m but with that size and for my purpose (events) I think I need a reliable/better shoulder strap.

Thanks

The results on the K5 are fairly good...the three below which I took last weekend.....cropped to half their original size....a 100% crop would have been just fine......the only concern being with small objects is that the auto-focus it is generally a hit or a miss. Not sure if it is the large sensor problem of the K5 or something with the lens..

Nice Shots Kamalpreet and Edgar. I got my camera and lens back yesterday and did some quick tests on a Not So stationary Subject(my kid) and all of them were tack Sharp. After the firm ware upgrade, the focus in live view is working.

Definitely, I am the last to receive one. Russian express mail is so express Mine, I guess, has new firmware cause LiveView is working on my K-01. AF speed is fast and on par with original Pentax lenses on K-01. And no calibration needed, contrast af is always accurate. Thanks to OP for posting such a great deal !
