I am going to sell my 2 1/2 month old k30 to my friend for $400, so I just bought this deal. I decided that the k5 even though it is older technology, will suit more of my needs for the next year or so and my lenses that I bought for the k30 will work with it so its a no brainer at this price.

With todays exchange rate it came to $987.44 including shipping! I need this zoom so for me, this was a deal I could not pass up. I think I am probably a k30 owner with one of the shortest careers of owning a k30 . My friend is excited to get the k30, and I am getting a lens I need, and a camera that will be easier to use with my tripod and will give me slightly better raw files.

That's exactly what I did! This deal has been around for a while. I returned my K30 and bought this K5 kit. Exchange rates are a little better now.
Only feature I miss from K30 is the focus peaking. For the short time I used, I liked that feature. The reason I opted K5 was for the quieter shutter (and mirror flop).

I will use the top lcd on the k5, as I do landscape and graffiti/urban bldg shots with tripods a lot. I will also really like the quieter shutter. I will miss the focus peaking a little bit but I have a k-01 that has that and I also I think that i will use all the bells and whistles on the k5 that the k30 doesn't have and I also think that I will benefit from the sturdier construction of the k5 since I carry my camera with me a lot and it does get banged around a bit.

The extended warranty was not listed on the website as being included, but it was included on my packing slip and was in with my shipment when the package arrived.

Thanks Docrwm! Even if the extended warranty was a packing error on Henry's part, (who knows, but I am glad the error was in my favor lol )the deal is still an awesome deal, seeing as with the exchange rate, I only paid 987.44 including shipping.

Update: I checked on the extended warranty. Apparently, the regular Pentax warranty in Canada is 2 years. It is honored worldwide though, so...I did not get an extended warranty, but got a regular 2 year warranty since i bought it in Canada.

They do a fraud check to make sure your paypal address is a confirmed one or your credit card address is confirmed. It takes one day for them to do that. I called them to speed it up and after I called them they shipped immediately.

The kit is really a good deal. I checked the shutter count on my camera and it was literally at 1, so they are brand new kits.

It's just a fantastic deal IMHO. The K-5 is a solid camera and the 18-135 is just so versatile because of its range and the WR factor. I bought each, at VERY good prices at the time of purchase, but the total was $1450 for the two. $1k is a killer deal IMHO. Congratulations to those who have purchased them.
