Yeah tax kills. But can't avoid it even from Amazon here. But yes there are few online retailers whom we can escape tax.

This is incorrect. The original price is 1149 and this is the amount that Costco charges tax on. I shop there all the time and they charge tax on the original amount on all their coupons and discounts.

You may be right, i've never calculated it, but it seems illegal to me to charge tax on uncollected revenue.

Good news! They are only charging tax on $849. It is different online, which is a good thing in this case. In the store, they always charge tax on the amount before the discount. Saves about $30 in my case...

At least we don't have state income tax and we have low property taxes here! But yeah, ouch. I might sometimes head to Bowling Green KY for big purchases on occasion.

So did you order one? I went to costco to have a feel of Pentax but unfortunately they don't keep Pentax as demo models, same with bestbuy, walmart, I think target as well. Its hard to buy such expensive devices without having a look at one.

It varies by state. In CA, its state law to charge tax on pre-coupon price.

At Costco in Indiana, if the discount is a rebate, the regular price of the item is taxed.

So I just bought the K30 and 18-55 non WR from Target. I am within 30 day return policy. I love the camera and I have been playing around with my older prime lenses so want to keep it. But the Costco deal if both are WR is a great deal even with the tax. I paid around $600 from Target after tax for non WR lens. I do have a non WR 70-300 tamron lens already. What do you think should I return to Target and do Costco to get the WR lenses.

Stan is absolutely right. I checked when it opened up on the 25th and all three were available. They appear to have sold out. Good news for Pentax that they sold out quickly.
