Pentax Australia Web Store prices
Posted By: sven84, 04-02-2013, 08:56 PM

These are not special prices but i assume are their everyday online prices now that the opening special is over.

https://www.crkennedy.com.au/pentax/index.php?q=catalog

A few examples of prices:

DA 15 LTD $649
FA 31 LTD $989
FA 43 LTD $584
FA 77 LTD $770

Very good prices for Australian Stock and local warranty support.

I am not sure if they ship overseas.

Good to see us Aussies finally getting some competitive pricing on Pentax gear.

CRK are also the Aus Sigma importer. I wonder if they'll do something similar there

Good on them for actually having a webstore now!

Prices seem good.

FA 31 is now $949.. Lucky me, I got mine with the 15% discount from $990 ($841.50) but it's on back order and is expected here in 3 weeks.

I was having a chat with the local rep a few months ago and told him that I could import one from B&H for just under $1000 whereas they were still selling them for $1695 at the time... Now if only they'd cut the prices on the Zooms a bit.

PS: Last week I got two quotes on FA 43mm LTD's from two different stores... ..$989 & $880. That second price ($880) was given after they called CRK.

Online store = $584 The difference is criminal.

Something I noticed with Pentax Australia if an item first entered the market when the AUD was poor against the USD the aussie price was gin and stayed that way. If an item first sold in Australia when our dollar was high against the USD our price was competitive and appears t stay that way. Don't know why the price wouldn't move as our dollar improves because I can't see them having all the stock they ever expect to sell in one shipment and warehoused for years.

It now appears they are fighting the cheaper overseas prices. I hope it continues.

Dear jeeez... I feel like it is me living at the end of the world now. No offense. FA 77mm costs 1100$ here and that's being the cheapest. Europe FTW.... And uhm, FA 31mm goes for 1600$ if you wanted to know.

CR Kennedy have traditionally only been a wholesaler. However I've had some direct dealings with CRK lately and after speaking with a representative about future direct sales, I got the firm impression they are sick of losing sales because camera stores won't stock Pentax products (including Sigma for Pentax). That's how I ended up there in the first place, no shop in Sydney had any stock of either a lens or flash I needed right away. The best offer I got was 3-5 days on order. CRK shipped overnight at a decent price. I believe they might just be expanding their retail side.

I'd have to agree with that assessment. I can't see how B&M stores could have a right to complain either especially as they just expect you to buy to try when it comes to Pentax gear.

Some of their stock for Pentax was bought years ago and would have reflected the shape of the AUD at the time of purchase. I think they only just ran out of old stock of the FA31 and are now importing at the prices we have been seeing at B&H for some time. Only a few years ago the UAD was US$0.55 but has been around the US$1.05 for a very long time now (down form a max of US$1.10 at one stage) - you can imagine what the prices would be like if they were still importing at US$0.55. B&M stores in OZ stock only minimal Pentax gear and CRK have obviously decided to open a retail business for Pentax gear. I welcome this and wish they'd done it years ago.

Just had an email from CRK in reply to my complaint to them of their pricing. The reply was prompt and in part advised they have started implementing parity pricing with US and in some cases my be better than US pricing. The reply also advised prices of accessory items such as eg. $399 for D-BG4 will be adjusted in the near future to fall in-line with this policy.

This is good news for all of us and might mean we won't have to resort to grey & overseas Shops.

See I wished they had launched the site a month or so ago so I could have gotten a brand new FA 31 instead of one without warranty...

But good on them for doing so! I'll be eyeing that 77 next...
