Pentax K 50mm f1.2 - Dark Side
Posted By: Dean Bradshaw, 04-20-2013, 03:20 PM

Just noticed this lens on EBay, in need of redemption from the Dark Side...

Pentax 50mm F1 2 Converted Nikon Immaculate Optics Also Useful FOR Canon DSLR | eBay

Or, I guess someone could use it on their Nikon

Cheers

That's hilarious. I nearly plunked down the dough for one of those about 7 or 8 years ago... They've gone up steadily since then.

What's this? Is Pentax glass so much more superior that "the other guys" will convert it to their cameras?

Bidding on this is still shockingly low...

Too bad I already have one that hasn't been violated by a Nikonian!

That one isn't such a sin. I'm pretty sure he's just using a K to m4/3 adapter.

Yes, but there's still 6 days left on the auction. I predict the final price will be shockingly high--after all, Nikon folks are accustomed to paying high prices for their gears.

Quite probably - though there's a still slight chance, since many Nikon folks are probably not familiar with this lens and could simply be put off by a conversion.

Pentax should start making these for canon and Nikon natively. That would definitely increase brand recognition and maybe even convince some of them to try a Pentax body

I love this question and answer:

Q: Hi! This lens will work on my Nikon d80? In M mode only, or in AF mode too? Thank you! 22-Apr-13 A: I do not have experience with D80 personally, but I have used this lens on Nikon D70, Kodak DSC SLR/n which is the same as Nikon N90, in Auto Exposure mode. Also it is working Auto mode with Canon 1Ds Mark II. Sorry but I do not know how to check this at this moment for D80 unless I attach it to the body directly.
