$10 monopod at Walmart - yes, Walmart.
Posted By: Docrwm, 04-29-2013, 05:19 AM

Targus Red TG-MP6710 67" Camera/Camcorder Monopod: Digital Cameras : Walmart.com

If you prefer Amazon, it is available from them for about the same price:
Amazon.com: Targus Digital TG-MP6710 67-Inch Camera/Camcorder Monopod: Camera & Photo

This is the same monopod that is sold under a variety of names. Dolica, Tiffen, Davis & Sanford, and Targus to name a few. I own it with Davis & Sanford painted on the side and have used it since 11/10. I've had it out at innumerable sporting events for my children and it hasn't missed a beat. I'm 6'2" and it's tall enough with camera and grip mounted on it for me to use without hurting my back. My review of it is here:
Davis & Sanford Vista Trailblazer Monopod reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

You can find it with other names marked on it at Amazon for around $15. The difference is, from the descriptions, that the $15 version comes with a case w/strap.

Monopod

Is this a decent monopod? I feel like you can't get anything decent for $10 these days.

Not as good as a baseball bat against zombies, but it'll do.

Screw a K-01 to the top and you pretty much are holding The Hammer of Thor.
Zombies be damned.

I picked up my monopod ship-to-store last night. This thing is well made for a $10 monopod. I noticed it's only rated for 5 lbs so it should be no surprise that it won't hold someone's weight. That said, the locks seem sturdy enough to use as a walking stick and as a monopod.

I also checked out the three screws - thanks for the tip. The heads on the screws don't look like the standard phillips head so I won't mess with them unless they come loose. At least i won't dive for the hack saw should I have any problems.

Assuming the weather is nice, I'm going to use this monopod to take some shots of my kids' soccer games this weekend. This gadget should help decrease blurriness in the shots with my K-10 and 80-320mm zoom.

Glad to hear that you like the monopod. Enjoy it at the soccer game, I never go to my son's games without a monopod.

I ordered the Dolica WT-1003 67-Inch Lightweight Monopod instead for $14.68 with free shipping because the cheap $9.99 one had 7 one star reviews out of 29 total compared to 7 out of 217 for the Dolica.

I'll use it's Hammer of Thor powers to help my kids win their games and keep the zombies away from field.

I did, the monopod worked great at my kids soccer games this past Saturday. Thanks for the terrific price find. Now if I would just remember to put on sunscreen before the next game . . .
