Is this only through B&H? I don't see any mention of rebates anywhere else.........

There's a link to Adorama's page for this camera right below the B&H link. Tip: buy the "bundled" deal at Adorama to get a free Lowepro carrying case ($15) and Lexar Class 10 16GB SDHC card ($17) for same $247 price as the camera alone.

Of course, there's the little matter of whether I really "need" this camera or not... I have a 5-year-old Olympus Tough camera that is still going strong and serves me well at the beach or poolside with pretty decent image quality in sunny conditions, although I am very interested in the f/2.0 lens (at 25mm wide angle), and 1080p video of the WG-3... just not sure it would worth spending $250 on that upgrade...

I just saw that they have it at the pentax web store for $200. I think the deal is today only.
PentaxWebstore.com: GMA

"PENTAX WG-3 - w/ Case, 8 GB SD Card & Extended Warranty"

You have to enter promocode GMA at checkout.
(The website was kind of going down before but seems ok now)

That's a great deal for $200 if you want the WG-3 for the fast f/2.0 lens and waterproof/crushproof/dropproof construction. Still, I've read some mixed online reviews about the WG-3's image quality as well as video capability. I'm actually more tempted by an older Olympus Tough TG-820 that I found on sale for $148 on ebay (via Beach Camera), although it's a manufacturer refurbished model with what appears to be a 90-day limited warranty. The Olympus gets very good reviews on its image quality, although it's not a fast lens (f/3.9) and it's 12 megapixels versus the Pentax's 16 megapixels. But the Olympus has a much sharper LCD screen (1 million dots) versus the Pentax LCD (460,000).

Hmm ya good points. I read anything above ISO 200 is noisy on the WG-3. I guess it's designed to be an outdoor camera.
What I'm looking for: Small take-it-anywhere, Waterproof for underwater shots, cheap. Decent Image quality. Good video quality.

It seems that these cameras "true resolution" are both around 9.7 Megapixels. (I didn't realize this at first)

Curious-- What didn't you like about the TG-1? I thought it's basically very similar to the WG-3?

Looks like the Olympus Tough TG-820 fits the bill for you-- more compact, lighter than WG-3, and $50 cheaper. possibly better video quality too. If the WG-3's image quality is apparently noisy above ISO 200, and thus the camera is best used outdoors in sunny weather, what's the point of having an f/2.0 lens? I doubt there's much depth of field to be had such a small sensor.

Ya I think you're right. Too bad it's sold out at this local store.

I'll keep an eye out for a deal on it, as I don't need it until the summer
