$199 focal reducer speed booster adapter Pentax PK K to Sony NEX

Focal reducer/Speed booster adapter

for/Pentax PK K bayonet lens to Sony NEX mount 5 6 7 camera FS700 FS100

All metal structure, with excellent opticals (4 elements/2 groups, super multi-coated)
what it does:

reduce the focal length (by 0.72x wider)

Ex. 50mm lens on NEX with the adpater, eff. focal length is 50mm x 1.5(crop) x 0.72 = 54mm

effectively increases the maximum aperture of the lens by 1 stop

(in other words, under the same aperture, you can use faster shutter speed (by 1 stop).

  what it does not:
there is no electronic integration, no auto fucusing

(you still need to manually focus your lens and aperture, etc.)

Played with my Pentax Asahi m42 stereo adapter now quite usable with the booster
first pic is original second is modified for cross eyed 3d viewing (look at the images cross eye until you see 3 images, the Middle image will be 3d)(if it doesn't feel right tilt your head back and forth until it lines up)

The host lens is a 55mm f1.8 super takumar m42

Looks like there are other sellers selling this for $188 now. And those show the "Lens Turbo" branding on them.

It's worth reading the description on some of those 'Lens Turbo's sold by eBay sellers, as some of them are selling them 'used' now. Not always immediately apparent from their ads.

I cancelled mine from MXCamera. I'm going to wait for the rumored next version, to fix the blue dot issue, or for the speedbooster.

Zhongyi Lens Turbo first impressions with Zhongyi Lens Turbo for Minolta MD lenses

QuoteQuote:
Hi guys,
i am a Minolta geek, so i got the Zhongyi Lens Turbo for Minolta MD lenses as fast as possible and want to share some initial impressions.

mechanics
•A big negative first: most of my lenes don't lock! It is not that easy to unscrew them, but when i used the 100/4 Macro which has a rather stiff focusing ring i unscrewed it a bit.

•The adapter fits okay, but there is a tiny little bit of play

optics
i just used it for one walk, so these are early obsevations

•i think lenses suffer quite heavily at large apertures like f/1.2, f/2.0 and to some degree at f/2.8 also. I use my Minolta MC 58/1.2 on a Canon 5dII quite often and it performed much worse than i am used to. I will make a direct comparison in the future.

•Stopped down i was quite happy with my lenses, yes - there is some corner falloff - but it is much less than i feared.

Okay, and now some sample images. All images are accessible at flickr in full resolution.
I used a Nex-6, shot raw an converted the images with LR 4. I didn't correct CA and my processing was limited to lifting some shadows and pulling some lights.

Lenses an apertures used are written into the image title

BTW the USPS (AKA Pony Express) is doing a fine job.

I couldn't resist and longer and ordered one of these with expedited shipping. I should have it this week. Maybe I'll set up some tests.

My son at a concert using 135mm f3.5 takumar m42 Not edited
I bought the k version of this LT but have not taken my m42 adapter out of it. It works so well with the taks in low light. I do alot of concert footage since all my kids are musicians or aspiring musicians. I took pictures of my daughters band with a k5 and a tamron 135mm f2.5 earlier that day and the noise was pretty bad compared to this.

My daughter would love that guitar, but my favorite is Rarity. The results look really good. You haven't noticed any blue dots, in the center, have you?

yeah there is when you point it into the sun or towards a bright light but for me it is not an issue as I don't take pictures of sunsets or sunrises often and if I need to I would just
put on my E-m42 adapter. heres one on a 17mm vivitar k mount..im sure the vivitar is partially to blame though

I can't say I'd watch the show if I didn't have kids, but it's not bad. I enjoy it, and it's much better than what she made me watch before.

Just received it today, here it is on my NEX-3N and 50mm F1.4 FA. It looks like it will make the 3N a fun camera to use with my PK mount lenses. It turns the full frame 50mm F1.4 FA into a 36mm F1.0 APS-C E mount lens that will also work on my NEX-VG900 in APS-C mode.

Question for jogiba and sliver-surfer...who was the seller?

I'm interested in buying one of these to play with my FA Limiteds. There seems to be quite a few sellers in Ebay, any guidance would be appreciated.
