Hi Docrwm,

What lenses can the 58mm filter be used for?
55-300 comes to mind. It is an odd-ball size but there are lenses out there that use it.

I think that the 58mm filter is just a typo on their part. In the email my friend received from Adorama that he forwarded me, it showed the 49mm filter being one of the items being shipped.

I would think it's a similar error like how their main site states that this hood is for fisheye q when it's actually for the prime q.

Correct, the 58mm is used on the FA31, it is common among MY lenses 31, 18-55, 28-80, 70-200, 55-300 although I don't even have a 58mm filter but a step down ring from my larger 72mm filter I use on my 17-70 and 85mm.
49mm is used on all the 'small' primes 15/21/35/40ltd/43/FA50/70/77 also 100WR

He insists it's shipped, he has tracking and all. Maybe they still processed orders early yesterday morning.

Anyways, don't blink! Amazon is at $595! Shipped & Sold by Amazon.

Amazon.com: Pentax SMCP-FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited Lens with Case and Hood (Black): Electronics

Don't understand the price drop seeing how they just went up a week ago.

edit: just realized it's on backorder.. only available on sunday..
Whoa, I must've blinked - it's now $583.18 .
It is a spectacular price. I just can't seem to get motivated to spend all those $$$ for a focal length that doesn't excite me. Rather than investing in gear, I tend to invest in things that provide utility.

On the subject of lens price increases, hasn't Pentax done this before? And street prices came back down, didn't they? Perhaps corporate is responding to pressures from their resellers. Ya know, announce price hikes & allow them to clear out inventory (and possibly purchased lenses in the pipeline) due to a frenzy caused by the announcements . Just a thought...

No, just a different seller.

Processing takes an additional 3 to 4 days for orders from this seller.
Ships from and sold by PORTABLE GUY.

That "guy" is not only portable, but quick - it's now up to $745.79!

It's just amazing/frustrating how online retail fluctuates so wildly. (Google analytics may be part of the reason.)

Amazon has the most sophisticated analysis of published pricing of any company on the planet per many reports. Their prices are often $1 less than anywhere else within minutes of a price change.

I like to use the http://camelcamelcamel.com/ website to track Amazon prices, set price alerts, and see historical prices (high/low/current). Very useful!

I am also intrigued by Amazon's method of pricing - this is a great site - thanks for sharing!

It is not the wrong size filter being sold with the 43 Limited.

Pentax SMCP-FA 43mm f/1.9 Standard Auto Focus Limited Edition Lens - Black
Tiffen 49mm UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter
Flashpoint CapKeeper 2 (Model CK-2) Lens Cap Leash (1)

Adorama has been back at work since Friday, so this price seems not to be a forgotten listing. Here's why - it's still up and they keep adding lenses to it!

was 2 available / 5 sold and is not reading 4 available / 5 sold
