Pentax K200D directly from Pentax $330
Posted By: vanyagor, 07-09-2013, 12:06 PM

Pentax official webstore surprisingly lists the K200D body among the current models for $330. I assume it is brand new. It is the only discontinued dSLR available at the Pentax Webstore right now

Looks like they found some in a closet after KEH cleaned them out...

Wow - a brand-new CCD imager, weather resistant and all. Hmmm.

Wonder if its just a mistake, or there are some unopened boxes at the Pentax warehouse waiting to finally be sold

Do these kits come with batteries? If so, I wonder if they might leak after sitting on the shelf that long. Although I'd also assume they would check for that before shipping.

Like jimr mentioned, it's a chance to snatch an excellent base ISO performer. It doesn't push as many pixels, but I've always been blown away by CCD tonality, it was on another level.

Sometimes inventory is reserved for warranty and so shows up a NOS. might be the case here.

I gave my K200D to my niece, since I have the K-5, K-30 and K-01. But a nicer camera than the K200D is hard to find. And if you don't shoot at high ISO's much, it's still better than most. I never had any issues with its image quality nor with reliability. Mine never gave me any kind of trouble. A K200D is well worth $330 for a body-only, even today. If anyone has any interest in this deal, my advice is to go for it. The risk is very low.

Probably, but 4-1/2 years after the camera is out of production? These probably got shelved in the back of some closet or storage facility, and totally forgotten. After all, this was during the midst of the Hoya takeover, and maybe that person got laid-off. Some Ricoh guy was probably told to clean out a bunch of closets and discovered these.
