Fantastic little lens, get it before the price goes back up.

You will have few lenses in your collection as sharp, especially for the price.

If you shoot just digital it is very hard not to consider the DA35/2.4 ... I think it must be even better if compared

Actually, I would really like to see a comparison between the FA 35mm f2 and DA 35mm f2.4. I already have a DA 35mm, but sometimes I wonder if the FA 35mm is an upgrade or just a sideways move.
I am especially wondering about CA, fringing, and AF.

Anagolous to the DA50/1.8 and M-A-F-FA50/1.7, I think they are the same optical design with newer coatings which result in the loss of light gathering.. Neither has quickshift, both are plastic built. The only benefit for the FA is the reversible hood... The DA version costs a third and probably serves 24x36mm ok

Not sure if these threads will answer your questions, but this is an often raised topic.

Yes, I would probably go with the DA 35 f2.4 unless the half stop between f2.4 and f2 is important to you.

FWIW, Lenstip.com has reviewed both the DA 2.4 and FA 2.0 35's:

You could get the 35mm F1.4 Rokinon for less than that after $50 rebate at some dealers and it is sharper than the Pentax 35mm F2 . I use the 35mm F1.4 on my full frame Sony NEX-VG900 and it's the best fast FF 35mm in that price range.

I cannot speak for the DA35 but the FA35 was the second modern Pentax lens I ever purchased and has, for me, always had a bit of pixie value attached to it. I characteristically use it at f/5.6 so there's no advantage over the DA - but the coverage serves me well with my later AF film camera, it is good enough as a MF lens on a MF film camera (aperture ring, and better focus ring feel than an FA50/1.4) and I fool myself into thinking it is a K35/2 with better coatings to complement my K35/3.5.

Of course none of that applies to you, but the FA35/2 is a fine, fine lens by any standard and we're (I believe) splitting hairs when we try to contrast one against the other.

Not so much when you factor price in!
